The Bloodtwig Dogwood is a small, hardy dogwood. It has white flowers that appear in June. Dark red twigs in winter that are really showy. Blue-black fruits and the leaves have a reddish fall color. This shrub is multistemmed and spreading with a rounded top. An excellent choice for informal hedges. It is usually used for a shrub or hedge, but can be trained to be a small tree. Suckers freely, to form colonies. The Bloodtwig Dogwood can reach heights of 15 feet and reach widths of 15 feet. It is cold hard to USDA Zone 4.
Recommended Planting Instructions:
Scarification: Soak in water for 48 hours, change water each day. Stratification: Cold stratify for 90 days or warm stratify for 120 days. Germination: Sow seed 1/8" deep, tamp soil, and mulch seed bed. Other: Fall sowing in mulched seedbed is prefered to artificial stratification
