The Colorado Blue Spruce is a stiffly pyramidal evergreen conifer. Horizontal branches reach to the ground, but form may become more open with age. Foliage occurs in a wide range of colors from green to silver-blue. It ranges in height from 30 to 60 ft and can reach 20-30 ft in 20 years. It's width ranges from 20-30 ft. It's hardy to zone 3. It prefers moist, well drained soils but will tolerate drier soil. Adaptable to a wide range of conditions. Full sun is prefered, for the blue spruce can lose it's "blueness" in shade.
Recommended Planting Instructions:
Scarification: Soak in water for 48 hours, change water each day. Stratification: None Required. Germination: Sow seed 1/8" deep, tamp soil, and mulch seed bed.
